Bushcraft Kit Advice

Our personal recommendations for the best and most useful equipment on the market, including some hints and tips on how to use it. Over the last ten years we have purchased a lot of kit – good, bad and ridiculous – this list is designed to save you time and money, and show you what is the Handmade fishing tackle, by instructor Ben McNutt - © Copyright Woodsmoke - UK Wilderness Bushcraft & Survival School.best.

IMPORTANT – this is not our course kit list!

The equipment included here is considered to be the best on the market, and should be viewed as a wish list or as an ‘ultimate kit list’.

We are not suggesting that you need all of this equipment to ‘hit the trail’.
It has been put together as a reference only. This is not a definitive kit list, it comes down to personal choice and these are only guidelines.

At the end of the day, kit is just kit – it is no substitute for knowledge, skills and experience.

Please also note that you do not need to spend a fortune on equipment! Stockists of ex-military equipment are well worth a look. Army surplus equipment and clothing is often effective and robust (although can be heavy), and most importantly – Cheap!
