Flint Knapper
From Apes to Archaeologists
The art of working with stone tools is almost as old as mankind itself. Three million years ago our ancestors discovered that they were able to utilise the sharp edges of freshly broken stone to penetrate skin, cut meat and shape wood. It is difficult to believe that until 2,500 years ago we were still employing these skills.
Led by Will Lord, you will follow the evolutionary steps in the development of different types of stone tools, and learn the basic techniques of lithic technology. In two days we will do what mankind had to discover over several millennia. This is an introductory level course and a great starting point for those interested in becoming proficient at this ancient art.
