Dear Ben and Lisa,

Thanks as usual for another superb week. It was hard work especially the first few days with the shelter building and the rain but I really enjoyed myself. For the first time one of my projects has been welcomed into the house – the eel trap! I can see ourselves seeking out one of Phil’s teaching sessions. I enjoyed the company of all the students – you seem to attract like minded people along with some really entertaining characters.

I’ll probably see you at the weekend when I arrive to collect rent from the Woodlanders for using our shelter!!

Regards

Philip Lomax

Hiya Ben and Lisa,

Well what can I say, that's the best week I've ever spent, the guys on the course were really good company, and the instruction was second to none.
All in all I really think that you hit the nail on the head ... so to speak, you got it bang on with the course.
I feel that I,ve learnt so much. At first , I thought that I'd gone in too deep but as the week went on thing really fell into place.
Both of you were always there for help but at the same time giving each person enough room to "do there own bit" .Thanks to Matt too, a really helpful knowledgeable guy who always time for everybody as well ( Matt, thanks for the plasters, and the knife info).

Just coming back to earth at the mo, still on a high, a really big one...

BEST WISHES ... KEEP IN TOUCH

Paul Whitaker

Hi Folks

Just a quick email to say thanks for yet another amazing week!

Each year I head into the woods for one of your courses, having spent more time outdoors and having read more books on the subject, thinking that I’m finally getting to grips with this it; only to find that after about 10 minutes that I haven’t even scratched the surface, as you open up more and more facets to this diverse subject.
But instead of feeling disconsolate, your enthusiasm and passion (and a good measure of patience) inspires me to find more ways of being outdoors.
Its not just the newly acquired skills; willow weaving, tracking or advanced trapping that does it; its the superb way that you manage to give a real insight into how people used to and still live using these skills, so much so that sitting round a camp fire late at night I feel truly connected to vast and ancient brotherhood.
You can almost feel the spirits of our ancestors and brothers around the world looking over your shoulder and nodding approvingly as you wrestle to carve a troublesome piece of Yew into a beautiful and practical fishing tool.

Thank you again for the glimpse into a truly “real’ world

Very best regards

David Kennedy

Hi Guys,

I would just like to say a very big thank you to you all for a great course. When you started the Native it was my intention to use it to further my ability prior to doing the Abo' and hopefully the Nomad but it was, I believe, a really useful experience to do the Abo' first. In a lot of ways it enabled me to get more from the Native.

I had been looking forward to the Native all year and it certainly lived up to expectations, you have got the balance just right with "revision" and new stuff. Because of the Nature of the Subject as a whole it could only be bettered by being two, three or even ?, well ten weeks long really !! (Although you might be fed up with me by then :-)
